At a Meeting of the Citizens of Madison [Virginia] held for the
purpose of testifying the deep regret they feel in Common with their fellow
citizens at the death of the illustrious patreat & statesman James
Madison--their gratitude for his public services, & respect & admiration for
his private character it was
1 Resolved--that we wear crape on the left arm for thirty days
2 Resolved that we deeply sympathize with Mrs. Madison on her heavy
bereavement
3 Resolved That a copy of these resolutions be transmitted to Mrs.
Madison
4 Resolved that these resolutions be published
