The Reflector
The Reflector is a local Charlottesville newspaper
that was published by an African-American during the Jim Crow period.
It enables researchers that are interested in the history of Southern
black life to understand black struggle, politics, and culture through
everyday real-life accounts. The paper reveals some of the interactions
between black citizens and the community of Charlottesville in a clear
and meaningful way and presents the evidence in four analytical frameworks.
The Reflector an excellent source for understanding the lives of Charlotteville's
African Americans during the Jim Crow period. This index lists the names
of all the residents and non-residents of Charlottesville that are mentioned
in the articles.
