This interface allows you to search for specific details mentioned in the ads. For example, you can search for specific slave names, or for specific places mentioned in the ads. By default, only the ads of runaway slaves or mixed groups of slaves and indentured servants are searched. Searches are NOT case sensitive, so searching for "JOHN", "John", or "john" will return the same set of results.

Where the location in the ad is the		of the runaway.

The search can be constrained to search only the ads which mention multiple runaways, those which have additional documentation such as planter's letters and diaries associated with the ad or slave, or ads which mention slaves who had multiple skills. Runaway indentured servants can be searched as well, by clicking the "include ads for runaway servants" option.
