J. Lindsay Almond Comments on the NAACP

J. Lindsay Almond urged that Virginia hold itself in "readiness" and that the state
maintain flexibilty in meeting the school desegregation issue. Any definite plan, Almond
said, would be attacked by the NAACP. Almond claimed his strategy was aimed at
preserving public education in Virginia.
