The Broady Family Cemetery is located off the Patrick Henry Highway (route 151), on Rose Mill Road. There are 18 individuals buried in this cemetery. Many of the individuals here are related to people in the Fletcher Family Cemetery (also in this database). A living descendant, Jasper Fletcher, accompanied us on a visit to the cemetery in December 2006. While many of the stones have inscriptions, both hand-carved and professionally done, several graves are marked with unmodified rocks. Mr. Fletcher was able to identify several of these individuals from memory, including an empty space reserved for a still living individual who was 102 years' old in 2006. Mr. Fletcher's mother (Julia Fletcher) and father (Patrick Fletcher) are buried here, as are several of his maternal relatives. Members of the Broady and Rose family once owned land near the cemetery. But today the cemetery no longer owned by any descendants, rather it sits on the corner of a house lot, with no visible boundary to delineate the cemetery from the surrounding land. Several years ago the present land owners selected a new site for thbuilding their house (seen at the rear of the photo below). On the first day of construction, a worker uncovered a bone which was presumed to be human. Work halted and the house was built further away from the cemetery.
