Nixon Campaigns in Richmond.
|
|
While on a campaign tour, vice president Richard Nixon spoke to a large crowd in
Richmond's Capital Square on October 3. Nixon derided the Democratic Party's platform as
more costly than the Republican plan in both money and potential freedoms. He urged the
audience to compare the Truman and Eisenhower administrations so they would see the
difference between Republicans and Democrats: "They talk a good game but we do a good
game." Nixon specifically mentioned the Republican record on building schools and
hospitals, and raising real wages. According to the web site, the footage was from October
3 but aired on October 4.
