Presentation Of A Private School Plan At A Warren County School Board Meeting
|
|
Since the public high school in Warren County would likely remain closed for some
time, county officials decided to seek a private school option for its high school
students. The Calvary Episcopal Church in Fort Royal informed Warren County officials
that its educational facilities were available for use by Warren High School students.
As for accreditation, the unidentified speaker informed the audience that the Virginia
Board of Education had adopted a policy earlier that day to provide full accreditation
to private schools that met necessary requirements. In order for Warren County to take
advantage of the private school option, it had to establish a non-profit corporation.
Residents of Warren County were eligible for membership in the non-profit corporation
for a fee of $2.00 or $3.00. This fee paid for cost associated with private school
education. According to the unidentified speaker, "this plan" was in operation in
Charlottesville. In closing, the unidentified speaker said the Warren committee
recommended the adoption of the private school plan.
