November 19, 1919

My Dear Mother,

I received your letter and money and was very glad to hear from you I am well and hope you and May and Bennie are same. I have Just put on My Winter underware and it is some cold and drilling every day in the R.O.T.C. They havent issued Our overcoats yet. Mother on Nove. 8, 1919. We played Petersburg and score was 12 and 12 and that same saturday the Band had to go to Phoebus Va and play at a funeral of a colored 24 calvary veteran and I had a headache but I had to play we played nearer my God to Thee and two others. I saw Willie and Lawton at foot Ball game sat. between Howard and Hampton Howard won by a score of 12-7

Hampton goes to Union University in Richmond Thanksgiving Day. Mother I have been invited to a Thanksgiving Dinner in Norfolk by Lawton and It cost about .80 roud trip so I dont know whether I shall be able to go or not. How are the pigs and sow and chick. Mother we wont have only about 8 or 10 day beging on 24 or near that. I wanted to go to Petersburg to see Alta but I dont know. Wishing you May and Bennie and Mr. Vaughn daughter a Happy Thanksgiving. How are May and Brother in school? Mother I am writing this in a hurry so excuse paper.

Give my love to all people Hoping to see you xmas Where is Aunt Joe?
