My Dear Mother,

I received your letter, and was very glad to hear from you. I am well and hope you and May & Benny are the same. I received the gloves came in the nick of time. How are you all getting along with wood & water & food? I think about that all of the time.

launched Tuesday S.S. Luray It Slid off in to the water as easy as a duck but my a wave one of the school boys got hurt by it But I did not as I was up in memorial church tower 126 feet. I saw 8 Battleships Wed'-day. I heard Sec't of the Interior Franklin, ?K.? Lane today. Mother the government is going to establish a Reserve Officers Training Corps which any student can join over 14 yr. of age. you be in it 2 yr.

and I you want to 2 more. You have a chance to mak ?2 or 1? Lieutenants or capt. and I want to join I think as soon as I hear some more about It I think it will begin in Feb. Can I join? They give you your uniforms, I am sending you my picture of me and my Friend taken By another Boy his name is Harry Lee Hanks of ?Crewe? Va it doesnt favor either

of us. Also I am sending Bennys picture Back I saw Garret. A. ?Lowe? today mother perhaps I shall pass of arithmetic in my last examination I made 83 1/3% on my accuracy test & 96% on my form Mother I attend prayer meeting ever Thursday night I have to put away Books after prayer. How is Mrs. Harris now give my love to Beatrice Alta and violet all of them Tell them they must come down next year. Give my love to all
