October 30, 1918

My Dear Mother-,

I rec. both of your letters yesterday also one from Aunt Joe. This leaves me well and truly hope you and May and Benny are the same. Mama I have moved out of Stone Bldg. into the barn so as to be near my work. I rec the one

dollar and was very glad I bought a cake of soap and tooth powder. Mama I am giving up band now because my lesson are a little harder and I havent time. Tell May I am going to try to take supper with Miss Hallie Southers of Blenheim. Mama where is Miss Hearn boarding now Aunt Joe told me you

you had been real sick you did not let me know. Give my love to all. I am glad Mr Guirley has the Religion I ve got to recite a poem to night and havent started yet

Mama every night I see great search lights from Ft. Monroe going across the sea and across Hampton grounds It's a wonderful light.

How are you all making it. Is Mr Pace & Mrs P- and Mr Monroe dead really. How are the pigs and chickens and Czar and Kitty Excuse bad writing. I will write you a longer letter next time.
