May 26, 1921.

My darling Mother,

Your letter received and truly glad was I to hear from home. Oh, so many thanks for the money and I hope Oh I do hope I shall be able to repay you some day. Mother I am taking a test in Bible now final examinations I have finished and I have about a half an hour or so left before I can go to my room. I am worried to death because I am sure I did not pass in Geometry altho I havent seen my marks yet and if I have that means that I shall have to repeat it next year or my senior year, it is so hard for me to see thru that stuff but if I do flunk I am not the only one, but you know mother I have never had to repeat a subject in my life. We are taking examinations right along now. I am sending you one or two of them. we are going to have our commencement program

Tuesday May 31,. Today we had competitance drill among the four R.O.T.C. Companies, and my company won the flag and Silver cup. My company is Company "C". The captain in J.W. Smothers of Mt. ?Meigs? Alabama. He was a Second Lieutenant in the Army. Friday the worlds greatest negro soprano sings here in Ogden Hall Mme Florence Cole-Talbert. I have heard her before. She is some singer believe me. Well I know you all are glad May will be home soon and I only wish I could be home now to get some thing good to eat um! um! Tonight we had ginger bread and peaches. Mother I am ringing the Chimes at Hampton now up in he church tower. I broke one of the keys so I cant play until they it is fixed again. [missing text] I play them alongwith the boy who is instructing me and I will play them all summer. The hrs. to ring them are 9:00 at night, and every day at noon, except church
