My Dear Mother,

Your letter was received with pictures and was very glad to hear from you and children. I am well and truly hope you are the same. Well we went down to the range Saturday morning but I did not get a chance to shoot for just as I was going to load on firing lines we received order to cease. My back is a little stiff from carrying my gun

Those 5 miles down and back.

We are going again on 17th. I am very sorry to hear of Mr. Winfrey's misfortune and is he better? Mother I heard or at least it is a rumor that school closes June 2, This year. I saw Cousin Willie Sunday and he said he was coming home in May (some time) to speak in behalf of the building of the New Church. Hampton lost the Triangular Debate to Petersburgh this year.

We won in a base ball game here Saturday 8 to 7 from Lincoln University. Mother I think the best school for May if Petersburgh because

I don't think May could get along with the Matrons here. How is everything for gardening now? Mother the only subject that I am afraid of in the final examination is General Mathmetics but I pray and hope I can pass it off. I will send pictures as soon as they are developed.

I am on guard to night at the Commandant's Office from 9:30 P.M. to 5:30 A.M. How is Aunt Joe and all of the Howardsville folks.

Give my love to Uncle Isaac and his family and cousin Fannie

Mr. and Mrs. Harris and Guirley and Simpson. I intended to write Beatrice before she left for Plainfield, N.J.

Give my love to Benjamin and May and Nora. I saw Pauline tonight and I took supper with her Saturday night. She sends love to all. She said she heard from Terry week before last, but I havent heard a word since here I have been and I dont want to heare from him. Give love to Czar.

Now I will close from your loving Son Pray for me.
Roger.
