February 15, 1920

My Dear Mother,

I received you letter yesterday and was very glad to hear from you. I am feeling very well today (Sunday) and I am going to trade school Monday 16th How is May and Benny getting on in school I have lost a week out of school. I had the Grippe look like it was going to ache my back in two.

I havent heard from Miss Mary yet but Mamma I need some things very bad now

don't worry. $30 I would like to get from Miss Mary I need now 1 pr. of dress shoes because I have only pair torn shoes and they need repairing and my uniform is getting kind of shabby now you see I have to wear it to work and Church an everything and most boys in my class have two suits one a whipcord which costs about $20 so you see I am in Society down here and we have private socials and you know I like to be up to date. I mean my class of boys and girls. So if you

could write Miss Mary and get the Money I will pay her this summer please do you don't have to worry about $15 a month board because [missing text] I have 60 some dollars to My credit and I make 5 to 6 dollars a month. Mother I got My scholarship paid. Mother when I was sick one of my teachers a young lady came to see me but she couldn't get in ward so she sent me some fine apples and My girl she is just as dutiful about me when I was sick she wont let me eat

anything that would hurt me or throw me back so you see I am all safe now. Ha ha Please Ma'am send cake I can eat everything I can get hold of now, ha ha. I am sending my months reports English B Literature A General Mathematics C History B please send back its to bad about Mr. Guirley I am very sorry. You all be very careful of fire and cold now. Mother please see to that $30. I can get that pen I want for $2.50 the standard they use in school. give my love to all
