Dear Harriet

I am down here again for the winter. All the children, big & little, were well when I left Plainfield. Billy is taller than his mother now Anne is sweet & [missing text] & Annes three little girls lively at crickets.

Edith was with me all summer but is engaged and was to be married this winter but I cant get any thing definate out of her as to future plans.

Ill be lost without her. Libby said they couldn't afford to leave May any longer ?to? I missed seeing her this fall- All good wishes for your Christmas Did I ever think you for my birthday card.
