Thursday

Dear Harriet-

I was so glad to get your nice Christmas card and note. I sent you a card just before I left here in the spring and I don't know wether I wrote you in the summer or not. Perhaps you know what a hard time I had in the spring I discovered a lump in my left breast packed up a ?huny?, telegraphed Libby & Dr. Randall- I got to Plainfield one day & Billy & Libby drove me to the White Plains hospital the next & I was operated on the day after-

Dr R. said it was cancer & my whole breast must go- It was a very long operation but I came through well. The children were all so good to me and so worried [missing text]. I shall never forget I had a verry un ?comfortable? summer with x-ray treatments [missing text] so I [missing text] really normal until late in the summer but I seem verry well now I am swimming again though my arm hurts [missing text] ?There? ?Do? nothing I [missing text] like better than some of those good walnut [missing text] you used to make me at Mrs Dunbars ?Its? [missing text] yours since Mrs D's death. It dont seem possible. Do write when you can & Ill try to be better about answering All good [missing text].
