October 4, 1934.

My dear Mrs. Yancey,

I do hope you will not feel angry with me for not writing sooner but I have thought of you often and every time I would plan to write something would turn up to prevent.

I wanted the ?receipt? for the grape conserve you had, so I do hope you will answer this

and send it to me. I would really appreciate it.

I am frightened sick. Ruth writes me that Mother is sick in bed but she said such a little. Please find out for me how she is, what doctor they had and what he says. If she is able to travel I would like her to come here- to me With the girls working the way they are they they cannot possibly take care of her and too, with cold weather coming on there is the fire to be considered also. I hope you will help me persuade her to come here. I have plenty of room and there is always enough to eat, then too we have a very close friend who is a doctor that would make our bills much smaller and in the event she did need hospitalization he could get her in. If necessary I will come east and get her. What do you think? Please get all the information for me that you can and write me as soon as possible because I am just on pins I have been so nervous since

(page 3)

Ruths letter came.

Things are humming around here because of the Base Ball Series. I never saw folks so excited over an event as they are over this. I have even caught the fever and learned what it is all about. Before this year tho, Base Ball was only a name to me.

The children are fine and going to school. I am going to school at night myself. It is an effort tho. I must close. Hope you will be able to write me soon.

Love
Emella
