Now-a-days the modern household has a reliable
clinical thermometer in the home, because it is
important to know when a member of the family becomes
ill, whether the physician should be summoned at once
or whether there is plenty of time for the family
doctor to come. In ordinary cases of illness, the
temperature of the person, will usually tell who to
call. Have you a thermometer in your home?
To have a reliable fever thermometer in the home
is worth the cost many times over when someone is ill
at home and you wonder how serious the case may be. The
clinical thermometer will tell the story. It will ease
your mind tremendously by indicating what action to
take. Of course, it is necessary to have a reliable
fever thermometer, one that can be depended upon to tell
the true story, as an erroneous reading thermometer is
misleading and is worse than having none at all.

A certificate accompanies each thermometer
guaranteeing that the instrument has been manufactured
and tested in accordance with the specifications of
the Bureau of Standards, Washington, D.C., CS-1-28,
and the Sanitary Code No. 190 of the Department of
Health of the City of New York. The manufacturer
guarantees that the thermometer will not vary more than
.2 of a degree at any of the following points: 98-102-
106-108 degrees. Should there be a variation of .2
degree at any of the points mentioned above, it is
negligible in taking the temperature and can be
disregarded.
As evidence of the manufacturers care in
manufacturing and testing the thermometer, they further
guarantee to replace without charge, any thermometers
found defective for any reason whatever.
The clinical thermometer is considered more or
less a professional instrument and therefore, often
difficult to the layman to read. Complete instruction
how to use and read a thermometer is printed in the
certificate accompanying the thermometer. However,
it is often difficult to find the reading, not with-
standing the printed instructions. We have therefore,
developed an easy thermometer, our "Kwikread."
There are two red stripes running thru the glass
in this thermometer and the mercury column will be
found by looking between the two red stripes. Follow
the directions printed in the certificate and look
between the two red stripes and there will be no
difficulty in finding the mercury column.
This thermometer is therefore, the best household
thermometer, because of its accuracy and reliability
and the facility with which the layman can read a
temperature.
