April 27, 1906

My Dear Wife,

Your letter received Very glad to hear from you & children & that you all are well & getting on nicely. I am feeling much better than I have been for a week I had a severe track of head cold & sore throat My throat affect me a little now, but I am still taking something for it.

I went out this am after breakfast & got your shoes I hope they will be all ok. They are a little heavy for summer I give the money to Cousin to get you gingham & other cloth so I will start your things by express this pm. Friday So I hope you may get them Saturday night. I will try & send them in a basket. I would send you some money now, but I had to send $3.00 to pay

on those books I will send you some small change next wk if nothing happens- & on the 10 of May will send you something to pay on some of my debts. I hope to pay them off before I come home in July if I keep well & you all keep up- I have been thinking of coming up in next month on Sat & come back Monday & will if they have reduce rates on the road.

Mrs. Hudgins is stopping here at the Ford's Hotel & wants me to go back to Ronceverte but I don't want to go. I have a good job & am getting on Very well. I am off after breakfast also after dinner, & work is easy & plenty to eat so I am satified all but being away from you all- I saw Mr. Harris & Dr. Sizer here Dr. Sizer brought Sallie Turner (col) from Howardsville to be operated on. I shall call to see her Sunday

I hope Dolly has had that calf- I am glad you had pipe fixed How do they look? Do they give you much trouble-

I am glad to know you had Company Sunday- I guess it will be lively this summer around Esmont How is Mr. Scott Can he work yet have you heard about the girls- What is Arthur doing-

If you see John Robinson the Constable please tell him to answer Mr. Robinson's letter about his tax for 1905-
