Dear Wife & C.,

Your letter came safe enclosed I found Receipts for check In reply I shall signed receipts & return to Mr. H.B.F. today in regards to check- I wrote to Mr. Walker Concerning the check-It is mine to do as I wish- for The explanation was That I had work for the extension & improvement of the Esmont School- That the Jean Fund was for Teachers only & that every Term If I apply in time the amt the School Board pays the Jean Fund would pay providing the Teacher raise the ?Astal? ?Amory?

(page 2)

Patrons- So I went before Board of Directors of Jean Fund and so the amt has been sent me at my dispocial My assistant name Was not mention so there is nothing to that The only thing for me to do is to teach out that amt - This coming term and if the Patrons donot pay for an additional month They (Patrons) are the loser I told them the condition of the Jean Fund last Spring But they were too afraid I would reap a benefit from what they had saved in Educational Board Now I donot believe they are going to do anything to improvement
