--Franklin County has 192 venders of foreign and domestic merchandize 75 of whom are doing business in the Borough of Chambersburg. There are 100 establishments in the county employed in various manufacturing enterprises, besides 7 distilleries and 2 breweries. Seven years ago there as 27 distilleries in the county. Washington township, which now has but one, had at that time seven, the whole number now in the county. Washington township now leads off in the Merchandize line having 24 stores and Green township in Manufacturing having 18 establishments.
