Summary: Account of a state Democratic political meeting, during which the Presidential electors were chosen. Discusses debate over who is to be the party's candidate for President.

Summary: Report that Mississippi has responded favorably to the idea of sending delegates to a "Southern Convention" called for by South Carolina. It also agreed to send a commissioner to Virginia. The Commissioner from Mississippi was well received by crowds who heard him speak. He called for preserving the Union and upholding the Constitution.
