Summary: Nine prisoners escaped from the local jail Monday night. Six were caught, but Ayres, Knipple, and Alvis remain at large.

(Column 2)

Summary: The editor calls on Augusta farmers to comply with the law and with the resolutions Augusta citizens passed voluntarily. In these proclamations, the farmers promised not to hoard their produce but to sell it at the agreed upon rates.

Excerpt: "Come forward then promptly and do not let it be said that the farmers of Augusta refused to sell their produce. . . but rather let her, in this patriotic purpose, be proclaimed the Banner County of the Banner State."
