Summary: Criticizes Harris for claiming that the Opposition party pledged not to run an Opposition candidate.

The Washington Era
(Column 2)

Summary: Article characterizes the Washington Era as an "abolition organ" that says that it favors Letcher when in fact it supports Goggin for governor. However, the Era knew that it couldn't openly advocate Goggin because such an editorial would be "read and quoted in every opposition paper of this state." The Vindicator accuses the Opposition of seeking a coalition with the Republicans.
