Virginia Gazette (Purdie),
Williamsburg, June 12, 1778.

RUN away from the subscriber's mill on Bull run, in Prince William county, the 27th of May last, a very likely negro man named Ishmael 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, 27 or 28 years old, very black, and bred to sea by Mr. Cornelius Calvert of Norfolk, who sold him last July to Col. Charles Lynch, and he parted with him to me shortly after. Since that time he has been employed in rope making. He had on hemp linen shirt and trousers, and a blue jacket faced with red flannel, but as he is a very knowing fellow, and I believe has got a good deal of money with him, it is very probable he may change his clothes and make for Norfolk, as he wants much to get on board some of the English ships of war. Whoever delivers the said fellow to me, or secures him in any jail, so that I get him again, shall have five pounds reward. WILLIAM HEPBURN.
