The Geography of Slavery

Norfolk Herald (Willett and O'Connor),
Norfolk, October 15, 1799.

20 Dollars Reward. RAN AWAY from the subscriber, about the last of August, a Negro man named DICK , about 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, a stout, well made fellow. I suppose he will make for Nansemond County, Virginia, as I purchased him from a Mr. Wm Cofield, in Barret's Neck. He is well acquainted in the neighbourhood of the late Jos. Scott, dec'd and has relations thereabouts. Any person apprehending said Negro, securing him in any jail so that I get him again, shall receive the above Reward. All Masters of vessels are forewarned harbouring or carrying him off at their peril. STEPHEN ANDREWS. Bertie County, Oct. 12.
