The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Gazette and General Advertiser (Davis),
Richmond, August 14, 1793.

Ten Dollars Reward. RUNAWAY from the subscriber, a Negro Wench, named BIDDY, about 5 feet 6 inches high, twenty two or three years of age, spare and well made, of a dark complexion, and has three marks on the back part of her neck, occasioned by cupping.--She carried with her two children, the oldest about six years of age, a girl, and nearly of the same colour as the wench, and a dark Mulatto. I purchased the wench from Mr. William King, of Westham, where she may probably make for, or perhaps Malvern Hills, at which place she has relations.--I will give the above reward for the Negroes on their delivery to me at this place, and pay the legal expence traveling. THOMAS WALKER. Richmond, August 6, 1793.
