The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Chronicle and Norfolk and Portsmouth General Advertiser (Baxter and Wilson),
Norfolk, July 13, 1793.

Five Dollars Reward. RANAWAY from the subscriber, about five weeks since, a likely negro fellow by the name of BOB, about 5 feet 8 or 10 inches high, well made, of a dark complexion: He took away with him a superfine, London Brown broad cloth coat, a striped elastic ditto, and striped elastic waistcoat, and a striped velveret ditto, a pair of black velveret breeches, and a pair of bottle green cassimer ditto, several pair silk and cotton stockings which have the innitials of my name, and several shirts ruffled hand and bosom, together with a number of other common servant's cloths. As I suspect he is in Norfolk or Williamsburg. I will give the above reward to any person that will secure him in any gaol so that I get him again, or if sent to me I will pay all charges. John Darby. West-Point, July 5, 1793.
