The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Gazette and General Advertiser (Davis),
Richmond, June 26, 1793.

COMMITTED to Culpeper gaol, on the 6th of April, 1793, a NEGRO MAN SLAVE, about 23 or 24 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches high, of a yellow complexion, named BILL; on the right check has a large mole--had on a Virginia cloth jacket and breeches, old shoes, and old wool hat, says he belongs to Lewis Hening, of North-Carolina, Granville county. The owner is desired to prove his property, pay charges, and take him away. TIMOTHY MATLOCK, Goaler. June 24, 1793
