The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Herald and Fredericksburg Advertiser (Green),
Fredericksburg, May 30, 1793

SIMON---a runaway Negro. FIVE DOLLARS REWARD for apprehending and securing SIMON, a runaway, who left the subscriber the 11th or 12th of April last.--SIMON is a black fellow, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stout and well made.--He had in his possesion many clothes, of course a description of his wearing apparel will be impossible.--He was raised at Newport, the seat of Mrs. Campbell, near which place he may now be; but I rather suppose he will endeavour to get on board some vessel, I do therefore forewarn all masters and captains from receiving, or in any wise harbouring the said Negro. EDWARD VOSS. Fredericksburg, May 29, 1793.
