The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Herald and Fredericksburg Advertiser (Green),
Fredericksburg, May 16, 1793

Twenty Dollars Reward, FOR apprehending and delivering to me two Negro fellows,--TOM and JERRY, or in proportion for either, with all reasonable travelling expenses paid by me.---TOM has a bad sore on his leg, is about 5 feet 10 inches high, an artful rascal, and will make his escape after he may be apprehended unless strictly watched.---JERRY is much about Tom's size, make and manners, except that he has a down look when spoke to.---All persons are forewarned from harbouring or protecting the said Negroes. PHILIP FITZHUGH. Marmion, May 10, 1793.
