The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Herald and Fredericksburg Advertiser (Green),
Fredericksburg, March 14, 1793

Eight Dollars Reward, FOR apprehending and delivering to me, or to my overseer Mr. Ralph Hughes, at my plantation in King George county, which place he left about the 25th of last month, A Negro Man named ADAM: He is of the middle stature, about 34 years old, a stout well made man, with a pleasant countenance; but what will best distinguish him is, that he has one leg somewhat larger than the other.--He has a wife at Mrs. Peyton's plantation in Caroline county, where he may be concealed, but has been lately seen at the upper end of this town. JOSEPH JONES. Fredericksburg, March 12, 1793.
