The Geography of Slavery

Fredericksburg, January 17, 1793

RANAWAY from the subscriber, living in Caroline county, about the 10th of last May, a Negro man named Simon, About 35 years of age, six feet high, well made, wears his hair cut on the crown, and turned up before; yellowish complexion, has lost some of his upper fore teeth, very full eyes, and has some knowledge of the shoemaking business. Whoever will deliver the said Negro to the subscriber, or give such information that he may be recovered, shall receive TEN DOLLARS, if in this state, and in proportion if out of the state.
