COMMITTED to the Gaol of Lancaster County, on the 24th day of November, a negro man slave, who calls himself ROBIN, acknowledges he is a runaway, and says he belongs to John Edwards, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He is of a black complexion, about 5 feet 8 inches high, well made and likely, had on when committed, a negro cotton jacket, and a pair of Virginia cloth breeches, his other cloathing was so bad, as not worth describing. He says he came to this neighbourhood in a vessel from Norfolk, was landed in Northumberland, and so got into this county. The owner is desired to prove his property, pay charges, and take him away.
