The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Journal and Alexandria Advertiser (Richards),
Alexandria, April 21, 1785.

Loudon County, April 16, 1785. RAN away from the Subscriber on the 22d of March, a Mulatto Man, named HARRY, but calls himself HARRY JACKSON; he is about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, well made and very active, has a scar on his forehead, is fond of liquor, and can work at the shoemaking business: He took with him his common working cloaths, which were cotton, but it is probable he may have got others.---I have reason to apprehend that he is lurking about the lower end of Fairfax County as he has many relations there.---Whoever delivers the said Fellow to Col. DENNIS RAMSAY in Alexandria, or to the Subscriber, shall receive EIGHT DOLLARS reward. THADDEUS M'CARTY.
