The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Gazette or American Advertiser (Hayes),
Richmond, December 4, 1784.

FORTY DOLLARS REWARD. RAN away the 11th of October last, two Virginia-born Negro FELLOWS, viz. TULLY, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, very likely, and of a yellow complexion. FRANK, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, very likely, also of a yellowish complexion. As I purchased the above Slaves, of Levin Joynes, Esq; of Accomack County, I expect they have made towards the lower part of this State in order to cross the Bay. Any person delivering the said Slaves to me in Richmond, shall receive the above reward, exclusive of what the law allows, or in proportion for either. FRANCIS GRAVES. RICHMOND, Dec. 3, 1784.
