The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Gazette or American Advertiser (Hayes),
Richmond, December 4, 1784.

RUN away from the subscriber, the 27th of August last, a likely negro boy named AARON (but now calls himself Robin Rich) of a yellowish complexion, about 14 years old, about 4 feet 9 or 10 inches high, well made, his wool appears sun-burnt some distance from his face upwards; he is sensible and artful, and passes for a free boy. Should he be taken, he will endeavour to make his escape, as he has done twice before. Any person who will apprehend the said runaway and bring him to me, living in Amherst County, on Harris's creek, near the Tobacco Row mountain, shall receive Two Guineas reward, besides what the law allows. AMBROSE RUCKER. Nov. 1784.
