The Geography of Slavery

Richmond, January 4, 1783.

TAKEN UP by the subscriber, in Norfolk county, a Negro Man, who says his name is ISAAC, and that he belongs to William Chitwood, in Henry county; he appears to be between thirty and forty years of age. Also a Negro Woman named BETTY, appears to be about twenty-six years of age, and says her master's name is Thomas Williams, of North-Carolina. The owner of said Negroes may have them by applying to ARTHUR WHITEHURST.
