Williamsburg, July 18, 1777.

RUN away from the subscriber in Charles City, on the 12th of this instant (July) a dark mulatto fellow named SAM, about 25 years old, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, and stout made; had on, and took with him, green Virginia cloth jacket and breeches, 3 cotton and linen shirts, green broadclath [sic] jacket, a pair of black thickset breeches, 3 pair of worsted stockings, a light coloured sagathy coat, a straw hat, with shoes and buckles. Whoever apprehends the said slave, and conveys him to me, near col. Harrison's mill, shall have 5 l. reward, if within a month from this date. JOHN KENT.
