The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Gazette (Rind),
Williamsburg, September 30, 1773.

COMMITTED to the gaol of Augusta county, on the 3d day of September, a runaway servant man named James Adams, by trade a tailor, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, and has on a wilton coat of a light colour. He says he was born in England, and that his master's name is Jeremiah Alderson, of the county of Prince Edward. The owner is desired to pay charges, and take him away. JOHN CAWLEY, Gaoler.
