The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Gazette (Purdie & Dixon),
Williamsburg, August 5, 1773.

COMMITTED to Warwick Jail, on the 20th of July, a Virginia born Negro Boy about eighteen Years of Age, five Feet five Inches high, is very sensible, says his Name is WILL, and that he belongs to Mr. John Speed of Mecklenburg; he has a Scar on the left Side of his Nose, has on a brown Linen Shirt and Trousers, striped Virginia Cloth Waistcoat, and a Felt Hat bound with yellow Ferret. His Owner is desired to take him away, and pay Charges to DIXON BROWN, Jailer.
