The Geography of Slavery

Virginia Gazette (Purdie & Dixon),
Williamsburg, November 2, 1769.

RUN away from the subscriber, the 20th of October 1767, a well made Mulatto woman named TABB, about 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, about 26 years of age, was with child, has a very bold look and speech, and I imagine has forged a pass, and will endeavour to pass for a free woman. Whoever conveys the said slave to me, in Lancaster county, shall have 3 l. if taken in the colony, and 4 l. if out thereof. THOMAS EVERITT.
