The Geography of Slavery

Williamsburg, December 18, 1766.

RAN away on the 21st of November last a Negro Man named James, belonging to Mr. Joseph Levy, of South Carolina. He is a well set Fellow and was born in King and Queen County, where he is now supposed to be. He had on a blue Surtout Coat, a blue Waistcoat, a red Coat, a red Lapell'd Waistcoat, Leather Breeches, a Pair of Boots, and a black Velvet Jocky Cap. Whoever brings him to Westover or Chatsworth, shall have Forty Shillings, besides what the Law allows. WILLIAM BYRD.
