Governor Almond Vows to Fight continued
|
|
Continued from clip 2_03. Responding to a State Supreme Court decision that outlawed
massive resistance, Governor Almond was determined to maintain segregated schools. In a
virulent attack on integration and judicial interference, Almond asked the people of
Virginia for support in the struggle while he supposedly advanced the welfare of their
children. Promising that the people, not judges, would decide about segregation, Almond
bellowed his famous call to arms: "with determination more relentless than ever before-we
have just begun to fight."
