Prince Edward Students in Classroom, September 10, 1963
|
|
Black students recited the Pledge of Allegiance and participated in academic drills led
by a black teacher. A white leader said he had "complete confidence" in the U.S. Supreme
Court and in the courts of Virginia to finalize the issue of school desegregation.
According to the speaker, lawyers informed him that the desegregation issue would be
settled well in advance of August 31, 1964.
