Danville Demonstrations, Night Scene with Police
|
|
Many of the demonstrators in Danville's June 1963 protests were high school students
and young adults. Later, when police and city leaders arrested and prosecuted the
demonstrators for violating an injunction the parents of young participants were also
arrested and charged--with contibuting to the delinquincy of a minor. Helmeted police
wielding nightsticks and fireman wielding firehoses dispersed demonstrators.
