WDBJ Interview with Danville Mayor Julian Stinson
|
|
Danville Mayor Julian Stinson argued that the city had "leaned over backwards" to help
"our colored bretheren" in the midst of the demonstrations. Stinson considered the
organizers of the protests "criminals" and suggested that white citizens were the ones
receiving unequal treatment from law enforcement because they were required to go around
the demonstrators and were denied access to certain parts of the city on account of
them. Stinson emphasized that the more stringent law enforcement against blacks was a
measure to equalize or make up for the inconvience that white citizens were experiencing.
