Danville Demonstrations, Court House Steps
|
|
Danville citizens protested segregated facilities and unequal opportunity for
employment in June 1963. These protests featured large marches with singing, clapping,
and speeches from local leaders of the movement, the Danville Christian Progressive
Association, an affiliate of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Policmen and
other white bystanders watched the marches.
