UVA Math Professor E.J. Ogelsby Speaks Against Integration
|
|
According to UVA professor E. J. Ogelsby, students that were enrolled in a
Charlottesville public school that was closed as a result of integration would receive a
good education at private schools. When asked about a possible change in state law to
address school integration, Professor Ogelsby said there would be no change in the state
law to permit "token integration in Charlottesville or anywhere else in Virginia."
Ogelsby, a member of the Defenders of State Sovereignty and Individual Liberties
Charlottesville chapter, was an active speaker and organizer for massive resistance to
integration in schools.
