Female Warren County School Board Members Explain Why She Voted Against The Private
School Plan
|
|
Mrs. Winfred Herr voted against the Warren County School Board recommendation to adopt
a private school plan. Her vote was not due to her dislike for "emergency education."
Rather, Herr did not want to close the door to "any ray of hope" to get Warren County
schools back into the hands of the community. State officials, she pointed out, "would
like for us to make no protest against their actions. . . against this massive
resistance." "I for one," declared Herr, "wish to make such a protest." Herr felt that
boys and girls in schools were being used as "ammunition" in this fight, and to loud
applause she called for the state to give Warren County back its schools.
