Governor Almond Opposed School Integration
|
|
Governor Almond said there was a "divided sentiment" concerning school integration in
Arlington, Charlottesville, Norfolk, and Warren County. In other areas of the state,
Virginians expressed their dislike for school integration through telegrams, letters,
and telephone calls. As a result, Almond concluded that school integration should be
"aborted" and that it would impair the efficiency of the school system in Virginia.
